BREAKING: Tragedy Strikes Again — 11 Lives Lost in Taxi–Truck Crash Near Durban. Barely two weeks after 14 schoolchildren died in a horrific scholar transport crash in the Vaal, South Africa is once again mourning another devastating road tragedy.

At least 11 people, including one child, have lost their lives following a violent collision between a fully loaded taxi and a truck on the R102 (Wanda Cele Road) near Isipingo, just past the M35 off-ramp south of Durban, on Thursday morning.
Emergency services were dispatched shortly after 7:30am, where they found both vehicles had veered off the road, with the taxi crashing into a tree. Several passengers were trapped inside the wreckage, prompting urgent rescue efforts.
Firefighters worked to cut victims free while paramedics treated the injured on scene. Multiple passengers were rushed to nearby hospitals in serious to critical condition. The taxi driver remained trapped for some time, while the truck driver is believed to have survived.
The road has since been closed by RTI and Metro Police to allow emergency operations and investigations to continue, resulting in heavy traffic congestion. Motorists are urged to avoid the area.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the crash. Police and traffic officials are on scene, with a full investigation underway.
