“Cat” Matlala and Wife Appear in Court Over Alleged Hit on Socialite Tebogo Thobejane
Businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala, his wife Tsakane Matlala, and three co-accused have made their first appearance in the Johannesburg High Court in connection with the alleged attempted murder of socialite Tebogo Thobejane.
The accused face a total of 25 charges, including 11 counts of attempted murder, as well as conspiracy to commit murder and related offences. The charges stem from an alleged hit targeting Thobejane, which authorities believe was carefully planned.
The State alleges that the accused were involved in orchestrating the attack, which left the socialite traumatised. Prosecutors told the court that the matter is serious and involves organised criminal activity, while investigations are still ongoing.
During the brief court appearance, the case was postponed to allow for further legal processes, including the possible bail application. The accused remain in custody as the court considers the gravity of the charges.
The case has drawn widespread public attention due to the high-profile nature of the accused and the severity of the allegations. More details are expected to emerge as the trial progresses.
