Giant has fallen former Kaizer Chiefs star has passed away.Kaizer Chiefs fans were deeply shocked last night, when news emerged that one of the club’s most promising youngsters in history, had sadly passed away.

It is a sad day indeed for Mzansi soccer lovers and Kaizer Chiefs fans as one of their own retired nimble-footed attacking midfielder, Lucky Maselesele has died. It was reported that he died on Friday at the age 41.

The cause of death is still not known as this happened last night, the news was shared by his former Chiefs’ teammate and friend, Isaac Mabotsa. He however refused to speak more on the issue but asked that they be given time to come to terms with their loss.

“I can confirm the sad news, but at the moment I request that we be given time to come to terms with what has happened. I am at his home as I speak, but please understand, I won’t make any further comment on the matter,” said Mabotsa.

Lucky Maselesele’s career in football goes back years he was promoted to the club’s first team in 1998 and he was one play who had big problems during his days. In 2020 he revealed that he was the first South African player to test positive for Cocaine and that he was ashamed of it.

“I was the first player to test positive for cocaine in SA and I’m not proud to say that. Listen to my story‚ after the two-year layoff. I tried to play everywhere‚ I tried to revive my career‚ now I had a stigma,” Maselesele related his story in 2020.

However no one is saying that drugs was the cause of his death as it appeared that he had gotten cleaned up and moved on from his drug using days. Fans were saddened by hiss untimely as the shared their memories of the football player in action and some said his days at Kaizer Chiefs were number because of the intense competition his his bad ways.

It is indeed a sad time for the family may his soul rest in eternal peace.
