Life comes at you fast, and that’s certainly the case for Katlego Maboe: The TV star has been removed from his gigs with both SABC and Outsurance.
Things are unraveling at a manic pace for Katlego Maboe on Friday, after his viral confessional took South Africa by storm. The TV personality has confirmed he was unfaithful to his wife, but rejects claims that he gave her an STD and put her health in danger. However, both SABC and Outsurance have taken swift action.
WHO IS KATLEGO MABOE? TV STAR IN CHEATING SCANDAL
On Friday morning, Cardova Productions issued a statement on the matter, acknowledging the seriousness of the allegations made against Katlego Mabeo. They moved to condemn ‘any acts of mistreatment against women’, confirming that he would not return to The Expresso Morning Show while SABC investigates the matter further.
“Certain serious allegations have been posted on social media about Katlego Maboe and, last night, a video was leaked showing Katlego Maboe seemingly admitting to cheating on his partner. We have been informed that a legal process relating to the allegations is currently sub-judice.”
“We condemn any acts of violence and mistreatment, especially against women and children, and therefore take such allegations very seriously. Until such time as the matter has been fully investigated, and pending the outcome, Katlego Maboe will not be appearing on The Expresso Morning Show.”
Outsurance, meanwhile, has taken a very similar stance. Although they have stated that Maboe ‘should be given space to deal with the situation, a spokesperson for the company told media blogger TV With Thinus that all adverts featuring their under-fire host would be removed from both social media and their televisual campaigns:
“We are aware of the issue surrounding Katlego Maboe and have engaged with him on this. We want to provide Katlego and his family the time and space to deal with this private situation. In the meantime, we will be removing all advertisements featuring Katlego as soon as practically possible.”
So OUTsurance has removed all content relating to #katlegomaboe from their Twitter page
