Kortez Passes On

“Kortez…Such a genuine, fun, sweet guy. Such a great dad. The biggest romantic. I’ll never forget the first time we met and the conversation we had and you getting me flowers chile. You believed in me so much. Sending you love in the heavens. I’m in disbelief.”

Shocked by his passing, Boity retweeted under the hashtag #RIPKortez which quickly gained momentum. Other Zalebs including Pretoria-based rapper Blak Lez and Mihlali Ndamase are also shocked by his passing. Kortez was known for finding one of the biggest tattoo brands in Africa, Ink City. Earlier in the year, Mihlali visited them to get a leg sleeve.

What’s even more heartbreaking about his passing is the fact that his son recently turned one year old. In a heartfelt message dedicated to his little man, he revealed that he wanted to create generational wealth so that his son, King, didn’t have to worry about anything.

At some point, you just realize that there’s truly more to life than money and individual success, let’s try to create generational wealth so that our kids never have to worry about shit.”
