Mohale finally opens up to counter Somizi lies. In August 2021, Mohale Motaung alleged that his estranged husband, reality television star and choreographer Somizi Mhlongo physically abused him during their marriage.

Almost a year later, Showmax has wrapped filming for Mohale: On the Record, a tell-all interview between Motaung and television host, Aldrin Sampear where he will detail how the abuse claims affected him and more.

Mohale: On the Record is set to premiere on Thursday 4 August.

MOHALE MOTAUNG AND SOMIZI MHLONGO’S MARRIAGE
Mohale Motaung and Somizi Mhlongo became the poster couple for gay marriage in South Africa after their SAFTA-nominated 2020 wedding special, Somizi & Mohale: The Union, was labelled “the union of the year” and set a record for the most first-day views on Showmax.

Their relationship was a central focus in season four of Somizi’s hit show, Living The Dream With Somizi.

‘MOHALE: ON THE RECORD’
It became clear that the Somhale fairytale union was not as it seemed after an off-record interview with Mohale was leaked in August 2021, where he detailed how Somizi allegedly physically abused him.

As a result of the allegations, Somizi took time off from Idols SA and Metro FM and is now sharing his side of the story in season five of Living the Dream With Somizi. Little has been said about how the alleged abuse, the leak and the pending divorce has impacted Mohale.

“A lot has been said about me, both true and untrue,” said Mohale.

“I initially had no intentions to publicly speak of the events that have occurred, due to an agreement I had with the other parties involved. But when the agreement was dishonoured by the other party, it became paramount that I tell my truth as I know it.”
