A viral video involving a Roman’s Pizza employee had South Africans questioning the brand’s hygiene practices.

In the video shared on X, the employee is seen taking boxes out of a trash plastic, wiping them before packing them on a shelf, “to reuse”.

ROMAN’S PIZZA: ‘THIS IS NOT A PRACTICE WITHIN THE BRAND’

Roman’s Pizza revealed in a statement on Thursday, 12 September that they prohibit its employees from reusing dirty boxes.

“Roman’s Pizza, a leading pizza chain, is addressing concerns raised by a recent video circulating on social media regarding the reuse of pizza boxes at our franchised brand in Daveyton at Mayfield Square Shopping Centre.”

“We want to assure our valued customers and the public that this is not a practice within our brand,” said the brand.

The pizza chain adds that they take pride in their customer service and adhere to strict operational protocols to ensure the quality and safety of their products.
