The KwaZulu-Natal born actor is serious about religion and was a church youth leader and a preacher earlier on in his life before eventually becoming a pastor. However, along the way, Mlungisi got a calling from his ancestors which he embraced. Skeem Saam Emkay Opens Up

Mlungisi, whose character Emkay has a reputation of being a Cassanova on Skeem Saam, is actually very sober-minded in real life. He took the calling from his ancestors seriously and trained to become a traditional healer, sangoma.

Mlungisi has chosen not to speak out about his journey as a traditional healer, preferring to show his experiences through pictures. The actor has been sharing photos which show him practising his ancestral callings and wearing traditional healer regalia.
