Simphiwe Majozi, who plays the character of Sbu on Uzalo, has reportedly joined eTV’s popular soapie Durban Gen.
While the show’s viewership continues to plummet, the actor is slated to save it and it is unclear whether he has left Uzalo. Simphiwe is best known for the hilarious character of Sbu on SABC1’s popular show Uzalo. His loveable personality and crazy antics always keep viewers on the edge of their collective seats.He has become a household with a legion of fans that adore him.
According to Mzansi Ndaba well placed sources, the show’s producers believe Majozi can save the show because many people love him.
“The production is trying to attract TV fans. They have taken Simphiwe Majozi , who plays Sbu on Uzalo. They believe he has charisma and the potential of attracting TV fans to the show. We all know people love Simphiwe and his funny side, so maybe he will serve the purpose,” said the source.
Another mole said Sibusiso Madondo has also joined Durban Gen, ” Yes, these two actors are part of Durban Gen’s cast now. Producers believe they will add spark and the show will gain popularity.

Mzansi Ndaba recently reported that Durban Gen was struggling to gain more viewers after losing 300 000 viewers. According to entertainment commentator Phil Mphela, in December 2020, the medical drama series had 1.75 million viewers after it peaked at 2 Million viewers in November.
When that blew over, we learnt that talented actor Thulane Shange was fired from the show. The telenovela let go of Lihle Dhlomo who played the role of Doctor Precious Dlamini, Sifiso Sibiya who played Bab’ Gumede and Thulane Shange.
Viewers also had to bid farewell to yet another popular character on the medical series. This after a moving episode that saw the death of MaCele, played by Monica Thuli Zulu. On the show, MaCele succumbed to a heart attack after her husband told her that he has used up all their family savings.
