BREAKING: Veteran actor Sam Phillips has passed on. The death of the award-winning actor, director and music music composer has left many shocked.

The legendary actor’s career spanned over 40 years on screen and theatre in productions like Ibali lika Yona, Phamokete, inkaba, Jacob’s Cross, Heartlines, Generations, The Wild, Soul City, The Queen, Kings of Joburg, amongst others.

Dr Phillips passed away today at the age of 72. The Doctor spent 3 weeks in hospital before he departed peacefully. He has graced Mzansi’s screens for decades recently having a stint on The Queen as Harriet’s father and currently playing Samuel Senior on Kings of Joburg. Dr Phillips was best known for his role as Odwa on the eighth season of the SABC1 drama series Soul City, in 2007.

Mr Phillips was also an accomplished music composer.

He can currently be seen, as Samuel, on Kings Of Joburg on Netflix
