MIA LE ROUX CROWNED MISS SA 2024

Outgoing Miss SA Natasha Joubert had the opportunity to crown her successor live on stage. Fan favourite Nompumelelo Maduna finished second, with Onalenna Constantin settling for third.

Mia le Roux went down in the history books of the pageant as the first-ever differently-abled Miss SA. Celebrities, politicians and fans flooded social media with congratulatory messages after her win.

However, some celebrities have poked fun at South Africa after Mia le Roux’s Miss SA win. Like Burana Boy, after Mia le Roux’s win, Ntsiki Mazwai took it to X to throw shade at other participants.

CHIDIMMA ADETSHINA’S WITHDRAWAL

This year’s pageant was undoubtedly marred by controversy, which saw 23-year-old Chidimma Adetshina withdraw from Miss SA for ‘safety reasons.’

Her withdrawal also came after Minister of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture Minister Gayton McKenzie’s Patriotic Alliance approached the courts to challenge her participation in the pageant.

South Africans questioned her eligibility and participation after she revealed that she was born to a South African mother (Zulu) of Mozambican descent and a Nigerian father.

Her participation and eligibility led to a national debate that convinced many that she was Nigerian.

However, after a formal complaint was lodged to Home Affairs, the department revealed that there was prima facie evidence following a preliminary probe into Adetshina’s citizenship.

A host of celebrities who supported Chidimma Adetshina amid her woes were quick to apologise, with some still believing that she was eligible to participate.
