Music fans have been left gobsmacked after West Ink Records premiered the music video of Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo’s single, “Khona Iy’ngane Lay’ndlini“, featuring a shocking appearance from Bonginkosi “Babes Wodumo” Simelane.
Deep into the twisted tale of abuse that divided many in this country, Mampintsha has silenced those who have been calling for his ‘cancellation’ by recruiting the same person that apparently exposed him for being an abuser.
Was the Mampintsha, Babes Wodumo abuse clip real?
In April, Babes snuck her phone well enough out of sight to allow her Instagram Live feed to capture the blows she was handed by her former manager and partner, Mampintsha.
As soon as that footage was published on social media, it took off. Political leaders and fellow peers of the popular Gqom artist were calling for Mampintsha head.
However, in a twisted turn of events, Mampintsha, the perceived aggressor in the situation, went and filed counter assault charges against his protege.
He described her as a reckless alcoholic with a track record of extreme violence when intoxicated.
This would later ring loud when a woman came forward with assault charges laid against Babes and two of her friends who Babes Wodumo finally appears at Durban magistrate’s court
Reaction to Babes appearance on Mampintsha new video
Fast-forward to Friday, and after numerous court appearances on the assault matter, Mampintsha brazenly pulled the veil on the entire debacle and showed a Babes that is still very much involved with the West Ink Records founder.
There has been no word from either side’s camp on what the meaning of this is, since there are still judicial processes underway concering the alleged abuse.
