Uzalo: Qhabanga Replaced By Pastor Mdletshe

A few weeks ago Uzalo confirmed speculation that two of its leading actors, Baby Cele and Siyabonga Shibe, are leaving the show.

Now the show has confirmed the return of Pastor Mdletshe played by Glen Gabela on their Twitter account with images of Pastor Mdletshe shaking hands with Mr. Mbatha behind the scenes.

Baby and Siyabonga, who play Gabisile and Qhabanga respectively, are set to leave the show at the end of its sixth season.

Rumors about the actors’ departure had been circulating since June with Siyabonga shutting down speculations of his departure on his Instagram account.

According to sources from the show, a number of actors were being fired after getting into a dispute with the show’s creators.

Siyabonga took to Instagram to set the record straight.

“I have had so many calls wanting to know whether I have been fired from Uzalo. I have been ignoring the issue for too long now. I want to put it on record that I and my producers are in a good space and there were never any fights for whatever reason.

“We are concentrating on delivering a good product for SABC1 since Covid-19 has affected many. Such reporting affects many – my family, my fans, fans of Uzalo. I repeat I have never fought with anyone and I have not been booted out, as some reports claim,” the actor said.

Some of the fans of the show were not happy with Pastor Mdletshe’s return as they favoured Qhabanga over him. They apparently find him a bit stiff and boring, while some congratulated the actor for making a comeback.

Pastor Mdletshe will apparently premiere on season six when Qhabanga leaves Uzalo.

Uzalo is still the leading soapie in South Africa with 8million views.

Watch Uzalo Monday to Friday after Generations The Legacy on SABC 1.
