WHO KILLED DAVID SEJOBE? Police Hunt for Silver-Grey Volvo Driver After Fatal Hit-and-Run

Police say the driver failed to stop, offer assistance, or report the collision, and fled the scene shortly afterwards. Authorities suspect the vehicle involved may be a silver-grey Volvo, possibly bearing visible damage.
The tragedy has left Sejobe’s family, colleagues, and the wider community deeply shaken by what many describe as a sudden and preventable loss. Police have opened a case of culpable homicide and failure to stop after an accident, and investigations are ongoing.

Sejobe was a familiar and well-loved figure in Randburg, particularly outside the MultiChoice building where he worked as a security officer. Colleagues and motorists remember him as friendly, dedicated, and always welcoming, often greeting passersby with a smile and a wave. Many say his daily presence brought warmth and positivity to those around him.

Following confirmation of his death, tributes poured in across social media, with friends, colleagues, and members of the public sharing fond memories of his kindness and cheerful spirit. Community members also gathered informally to honour his life, describing him as a hardworking man who took pride in his job and cared deeply for his family.
Police have once again highlighted the vulnerability of cyclists on South African roads, especially during early morning hours when visibility is reduced.

Authorities stressed that leaving the scene of an accident is a serious criminal offence that not only hinders investigations but also deepens the pain experienced by victims’ families.
Investigators are urging anyone who was travelling along the Golden Highway or nearby roads around the time of the incident to come forward.

This includes motorists, cyclists, pedestrians, and residents who may have noticed debris on the road, unusual activity, or a silver-grey Volvo with fresh damage shortly after the collision.
Police believe even minor details — such as partial registration numbers, dashcam footage, or sightings of a damaged vehicle undergoing repairs — could be crucial. Vehicle repair shops and panel beaters are also encouraged to report any suspicious repairs that match the description.

Authorities have emphasized that public cooperation is often key in solving hit-and-run cases and have assured community members that information can be shared confidentially.
Anyone with information related to the inciden

t is urged to contact Siyathemba SAPS on 087 630 1000 or Warrant Officer Lebogang Toyane on 082 454 3746.
As investigations continue, Sejobe’s loved ones mourn the loss of a man remembered not only for his work, but for the kindness, joy, and humanity he shared with everyone he encountered.
