In May, City Press reported that Zahara had fallen behind on her R17 665, 40 monthly installments and was on the verge of losing her Roodeport townhouse.

In an interview with Daily Sun, the Loliwe singer Zahara first asked for donations from South Africans and the Kaizer Chiefs soccer team.

Currently, she has revealed in the interview that she has paid off her house for the next three months.

“This tore me apart at first, which is why I spoke about it. I felt like I could have knocked on so many doors but they were closed. But I knew that there would be someone out there who could listen and understand. All the R50 notes, R100, and R1000 I got helped me.”

She added that a businessman helped her with the remaining funds because the donation was less than what she actually needed.

The singer also says that since her sister’s death, things have been difficult for her family and that the money from her fans has helped.

She continues by saying that when she asked for donations, her family was doubtful because they didn’t think anyone would pay attention or help.

“My family thought people would not care and thought I would be laughed at. But I told them rather that than open my legs for money.”
